Hans J. Wegner showed an early interest in the rocking chair as a design object and J16 was one of his first chairs ever put into production. The very first version was designed in 1944. After a process to make the chair easier to produce the production could start. Wegner’s J16 has proved so viable that it has been in demand ever since it first came on the market.
This handmade rocking chair by Hans Wegner, recently imported from Denmark, is marked with a 1978 label and remains in good overall condition. It shows minor signs of wear, including small spots and scuffs, consistent with its age.
